SPORT RELIEF 2008

Sport Relief will be taking place on 14th March at KHCTC, and students will be asked to pay £1 to come to school in sports clothing, and to run or walk their mile during the morning. Forms and classes from yr 7, 8 and 9 will be called up during the morning, and then if any students from yr 10 and 11 want to take part at lunch time they can. Photographs will be taken and put on the intranet. All proceeds will of course go to the Sport Relief Charity. Good luck to everyone taking part!

SCHOOL CHOIR - February 2008

New this term: YR 7, 8 and 9 students are invited to the school choir! The choir is in its early stages, however we are hoping that it will go from strength to strength. The choir will be singing traditional and modern songs, with the hope that they will soon do some performances in assemblies. The main requirement to be involved in the school choir is enthusiasm! If you would like to join or just come along and find out more, then collect your early lunch pass from Mrs Bennett in L21 on thursday mornings. The choir takes place every thursday lunch time at 1:00 in the performance area. We hope to see you there!

ANIMATION CLUB! NEW

Our brand new animation club started on Friday 16th November in T34 at 1pm. George Maier lead the session, introducing students to top tips when it comes to animation. George is already an expert in this field, having produced numerous pieces of animation (LEGO STREET to name one), and students seemed really keen to learn all about it. This friday, students will start the process of producing their own piece of animation. Anyone is welcome, and they should see Mrs J Bennett for an early lunch pass.

WELCOME!

Welcome to the KHCTC Student Voice Box Blog! This is really an extension of the STUDENT VOICE BOX newsletter, that will be produced every half term, by the students, for the students! STUDENT VOICE is a team of elected representatives from Yr’s 7 to 11, all working to make college life as enjoyable and happy as possible for the students here at Kirk Hallam.

The STUDENT VOICE BOX allows all students to voice their words and ideas, so that they can be read by fellow students. This can be done anonymously, or you can have your name written in lights! It’s entirely up to you, but the idea is that we are creating an opportunity for students to express themselves….and be heard!

This is the ideal opportunity for any budding poets, journalists or authors to have their work published around school. Or maybe you just want to voice your opinion about what is happening in the world - either way, it’s interesting for us to share our thoughts!

The STUDENT VOICE is not a forum for students just to have a good moan…..far from it! STUDENT VOICE is trying to promote students to use their initiative in order to enrich their school experience. STUDENT VOICE wants students to feel involved in school life, and to get the most out of their time here.

So ask yourself, how can I make my Kirk Hallam experience really count? What would you like to achieve?

YR7 representatives elected!
